Basic Policy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Purpose of installation<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n<p>While the main purpose of the new research reactor under consideration for installation is to utilize neutron beams, another feature of the research reactor is that it can be used for multipurpose purposes. In order to realize the establishment of a useful research facility that combines both of these features, it is necessary to gather a wide range of opinions from related academic societies and industry, and to develop a well-balanced plan. In May 2021, the Institute for Integrated Radiation and Nuclear Science, Kyoto University (KURNS) established the New Research Reactor Development and Utilization Center, which comprises researchers and engineers in related fields (the Japanese name was renamed in May 2024). This center aims to be an attractive facility for users.
