科学は単なる学問ではなく、異なる文化や価値観を持つ人々が対話するための、世界共通の言語である──。
この理念をもとに、「Nプロジェクト」が科学と社会の接点を高校生と共に探る取り組みとして注目を集めている。
2023年春に始動した同プロジェクトでは、学力の平均層に位置づけられる2,000人規模の高校生を対象に、科学のインプット（学習）とアウトプット（発信）を繰り返すことで、社会全体の科学的リテラシー向上を目指している。特徴的なのは、これまで科学を縁遠く感じていた特に文科系と言われていた生徒たちが、積極的に参加している点である。彼らは社会と科学の接点を自らの視点で捉え、社会との対話を通じて理解を深めている。
Science is more than a field of study — it is a universal language that enables dialogue among people with different cultures and values. Based on this idea, the N Project has been attracting attention as a unique effort to explore the connections between science and society together with high school students.
Since its launch in spring 2023, the project has involved about 2,000 average-level students, aiming to raise society’s overall scientific literacy through cycles of learning (input) and sharing (output). What makes it stand out is the enthusiastic participation of students from humanities backgrounds, who once felt science was out of reach. By engaging in dialogue with society, they are now reinterpreting science through their own perspectives and deepening their understanding.
