広がる活動の場、そして関西・大阪万博へ /Expanding Activities, Toward the Kansai-Osaka Expo
そのようななか、文部科学省さらに大阪府から社会との接点を見出せる最高の国際舞台が与えられた。大阪・関西万博において「わたしとみらい、つながるサイエンス展（主催：文部科学省）」で高校生と共にEXPOメッセ「WASSE」に立ち、158か国語で言語化したスケッチブックで国内外からの来場者をもてなし、共に科学を語る活動を行った。また大阪府からも「大阪・関西がリードするがん治療 ～BNCTが拓く「いのち輝く未来社会」～（主催：大阪府）」で大阪ヘルスケアパビリオン・リボーンステージにおいて活躍の場を与えられた。これらの活動において、高校生たちの活躍は参加者からの大きな反響を呼んだ。これらの活動でも女性（特に中年）からの熱い支持があり、科学を語る催しにおけるひとつのブレークスルーを感じさせた。
本活動も3年目を迎え、参画した高校生は3,400名を超えた。その同数以上いる保護者からの感謝の声が溢れている。理由は「家庭内で親子の会話が増えた」という、まさに対話型カリキュラムがもたらした成長の証であった。本活動の効果は、学校や地域社会だけでなく、家庭や友人関係にまで及んでおり、生徒達を核として多層的な影響を及ぼしている。
Amidst this progress, the project was given invaluable opportunities on major international stages by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and Osaka Prefecture to engage with society. At the Osaka–Kansai Expo, students participated in the MEXT-hosted “My Future, Connected with Science Exhibition” at EXPO Messe “WASSE,” where they welcomed visitors from Japan and abroad by sharing sketchbooks expressing science in 158 languages, engaging them in dialogue. Additionally, Osaka Prefecture provided another platform at the “Cancer Treatment Led by Osaka–Kansai: Toward a Life-Shining Future Society through BNCT” event at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion Reborn Stage. In both settings, the students’ active involvement received significant response from participants, with particularly strong support from women—especially middle-aged women—signaling a breakthrough in science communication.
Now in its third year, the project has involved over 3,400 high school students. An equal number of parents have voiced their gratitude, often noting a clear increase in parent–child conversations at home—tangible proof of the growth fostered by the program’s dialogue-based curriculum. The impact of the initiative thus extends beyond schools and communities, influencing families and peer relationships as well, creating multilayered effects with students at the core.
