科学的リテラシーを重視する理由 /The Importance of Science Literacy

科学的リテラシーとは、科学的知識を基に課題を明確化し論理的に結論を導く能力である。2023年の福島第一原発処理水放出への近隣諸国の反応にも見られるように、その欠如は社会的不安や軋轢を助長する。科学的リテラシーを養うことは、陰謀論や流言への惑わしを防ぎ、社会的レジリエンスを高め、より良い社会の実現に寄与すると期待される。

Scientific literacy means the ability to use scientific knowledge to identify issues, think them through, and reach logical conclusions. As seen in the reactions of neighboring countries to the release of treated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in 2023, a lack of scientific literacy can heighten public anxiety and create tensions. Building scientific literacy helps people avoid being misled by conspiracy theories or rumors, strengthens social resilience, and is expected to contribute to the creation of a better society.
